Data - Abandon Products

Products can be abandoned at any time if they prove no longer consistent with a firm’s strategy. If you abandon a product it is gone for good. Alternatives to consider are to modify the product by basing it on a new design, or simply not to produce the product for a year or so.

Any finished goods inventories for deleted products are dumped at prime cost.
