Now we go into more detail on the how machine capacity is determined. There are obvious non-similarities between people and machines. However, in modeling there are certain similarities also. Again there are 3 main inputs - quantity of machines, maintenance (which leads to machine effectiveness), and the potential capacity of the machines.
Quantity of machines is simply measured in Standard Capacity Units - SCU’s. Maintenance is simply the amount of money that is carried out to maintain machines and will reflect in both the quality and the breakdowns. Potential capacity is the amount of product that a fully maintained plant can produce.
